Thoughts I couldn’t ignore…

Who was Jesus?

Was Jesus Just a Prophet or Was He God in Flesh? This is something I decided to deeply search. Could or better question would the same God who created all the universe and everything in it lower himself and become what he created?

What I found is the Old Testament didn’t whisper this, it declared it. It said YHWH Himself would come. Not a messenger. Not a prophet carrying someone else’s words or a good teacher but God himself would come down.

Isaiah 40:3 – The LORD is coming

“Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting,‘Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD (Strongs H3068 YHWH)! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God. — Isaiah 40:3 (NLT)

The prophet says the LORD Himself will come. Every Gospel applies this voice shouting to John the Baptist (Matt 3:3; Mark 1:3; Luke 3:4; John 1:23) who prepared the way for Jesus. Isaiah said the LORD was coming; the Gospels show Jesus came. Jesus = the LORD.

Zechariah 12:10 – The One they pierced

“Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on Me the one they have pierced and mourn for Him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for Him as for a firstborn son who has died.” — Zechariah 12:10 (NLT)

The beginning of this chapter says “This message is from the LORD, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit.” God is speaking… Then God says they will pierce ME. Not a prophet, not a good teacher he says me! John 19:37 and Revelation 1:7 say this was fulfilled in Jesus’ crucifixion. If the speaker is God, and the one pierced is Jesus. Then Jesus is the LORD in flesh.

Isaiah 9:6-7 – A Child called Mighty God

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David for all eternity.” — Isaiah 9:6-7 (NLT)

No human king can rightfully hold divine titles like “Mighty God” it’s blasphemy Or rule for all eternity it’s not possible. The prophecy declares the coming child is divine, the LORD born among men.

Micah 5:2 – Born in Bethlehem, from Eternity

“But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past, from ancient times (H5769 ‘olam’ = everlasting).” — Micah 5:2 (NLT)

This ruler has eternal origins. Matthew 2:6 confirms this prophecy fulfilled at Jesus’ birth, an eternal One born.

Exodus 3:14 & John 8:58 – The Name “I AM” “God replied to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.’” — Exodus 3:14 (NLT)

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM.” At that point they picked up stones to throw at Him.” — John 8:58-59 (NLT)

The same divine name God revealed to Moses is claimed by Jesus. His listeners understood immediately that he was identifying Himself as God.

Every one of those prophecies points to the same truth. God didn’t just send someone else. He came Himself.

If the Old Testament really said LORD, Jehovah, YHWH (God’s personal name) would come, then we have a decision to make about who Jesus is. I believe the God who thundered on Sinai became flesh and walked among us. He entered His own creation, not in power, but in humility to rescue us. God promised He’d come and He did. Jesus didn’t just speak for God. He was God, walking among His people, fulfilling every prophecy the LORD made about Himself. He didn’t send someone else. He came. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14)

The LORD of the Old Testament is Jesus of the New. He walked, wept, healed, and died for us and He is coming again. The first time He came, He came in humility to redeem. The next time He comes, He comes in power and glory to reign.

If you’ve never looked into this yourself, if you dont believe Jesus and God are one or you’re just not sure what you believe then I encourage you to please look into this yourself. Don’t take my word for it, open your Bible and see what it says. Study and research for yourself. Matthew 7 says seek and you will find knock and the door will be opened to you.

Here are some of the Old Testament verses to start with. Isaiah 40:3, Zechariah 12:10, Jeremiah 23:5–6, Isaiah 9:6–7, Micah 5:2, Malachi 3:1, Isaiah 35:4–6, Exodus 3:14

Then go read how Jesus fulfilled them in the New Testament. John 1:1 & 14, John 8:58, Matthew 3:3, Matthew 11:4–5, Philippians 2:6–8, Revelation 1:7.

As always with love 💜🤟✝️
